The Truth About Pillsbury’s Place & Bake Brownies

We all know and love those delightful Pillsbury sugar cookies with festive designs perfect for nearly any holiday. Did you know Pillsbury recently debuted the latest product in a long line of quick, easy desserts?

Introducing the new Pillsbury Place & Bake Brownies.

These new Place & Bake Brownies make baking even more simple and include 12 brownie pieces ready to pop right in the oven without any mess. The brownies come in a few varieties: Chocolate Fudge, Peanut Butter, and Marshmallow. While I wanted to try all of them, I had to settle for the Chocolate Fudge brownies because my local Target did not carry the others. Regardless, I bought the brownies and headed home eager to test them out.

This product is very similar to the other Pillsbury desserts in that they are ready to bake right out of the package. What I love most about Pillsbury is that even the most novice baker can make these desserts. Opening the package, it was interesting to see the brownie pucks all packed together. I resisted the urge to eat the brownie dough and moved on to breaking apart the brownie rounds and placing them in a muffin pan.

It does specify on the package that you should place the brownie rounds into baking cups, but of course I ran out, so half of the brownies had baking cups and the other half did not. In the end, this did not make a difference and I found the brownies easy to remove even without the baking cups. The package also says to bake the brownies at 350 degrees for 20 to 22 minutes; however, I let them bake a couple minutes longer because they were not completely done in the middle. I recommend baking the brownies for the initial 20 minutes and then adding time if necessary, as ovens may vary.

Whether you enjoy baking or not, the Pillsbury Place & Bake Brownies are perfect if you need a quick dessert. Forget all the preparation time and dirty dishes, the Pillsbury Place & Bake Brownies provide a delicious treat without all the hassle. There are so many ways to spruce these brownies up including adding marshmallows, cookie dough, and more. I placed Oreo cookies under half of the brownies, and it was amazing! Even though I could not try the other variations, I will be on the lookout to try them in the future. I highly recommend you give these brownies a try on your next grocery trip.

I Found the Perfect Travel Razor

Summer may be over, but there is still time left in the year to plan a weekend getaway or begin making holiday preparations. Of course, with travel comes packing, and if you’re like me that is the most stressful part.

Whenever I travel, I tend to overpack. Clothes, shoes, toiletries – it seems I can never pack enough. In fact, I’m one of those people that barely manages to sneak under the 50-pound weight limit at the airport. Lately, I have been trying to minimize the number of items I take in my suitcase, and toiletries serve as one of those problem categories where I always pack too much.

I struggle with packing toiletries because I worry about losing my daily use items; therefore, I tend to buy disposable toiletries to last through the trip. The same rule applies to my razor. Generally, I pack a travel razor to easily dispose of once the vacation is over; however, this also means that I must pack some kind of shave gel to go with. There has got to be a better way.

To my surprise there is a better way; it’s called the Schick Intuition razor. This product combines the razor and shaving cream into one package, eliminating the need to buy or pack both. With the help of the shaving cream, this razor glides effortlessly across your skin, leaving the area nice and smooth. The shaving cream also contains Aloe, which gently moisturizes sensitive skin as you shave.

I primarily use a men’s razor because I can achieve a much closer shave, but for travel purposes, I think the Schick Intuition will become my new go-to. It’s also super affordable! The Schick Intuition starter pack, containing the handle and two razor blade refills, retails for under $7.50 on Amazon. Aside from a great deal, this shaving cream/razor duo means no more stressing over whether I remembered to pack all of my toiletries. Give this razor a try on your next vacation and you can travel carefree just like me!

Ditching the State Fair for Sonic’s Oreo a La Mode

The Texas State Fair is almost open, and soon we will be inundated with corny dogs, funnel cakes, and literally any other fried food you can think of. Earlier this year, Sonic launched a collection of state fair inspired foods from fried jalapeno poppers to the Oreo a La Mode.

Picture the state fair; people all around; the sweet smell of fried batter and powdered sugar in the air. That is the exact image that comes to mind with the Oreo a La Mode. Not only does Sonic give you three fried Oreos, they also throw in a small side of ice cream for dipping purposes. Even though I have visited the state fair multiple times in the past, I have never tried a fried Oreo. Let me just say, I now understand all the hype.

A sweet, crunchy batter coats each Oreo and smells exactly like a funnel cake you could expect to get at the state fair. Break the Oreo in half and you will find a softened Oreo cookie with a creamy center. It’s everything you love in a traditional Oreo but elevated. The side of ice cream adds another layer of flavor and makes the dessert more complete. This pair resembles a delicious, over the top Oreo funnel cake without all the mess.

I do recommend sharing this dessert with a friend or significant other because they are incredibly rich. I managed to eat one Oreo dipped in ice cream and was left feeling satisfied. In total, the Oreo a La Mode will cost you 590 calories with nearly half of those calories coming from fat. Due to the nutrition facts alone, I would not go out of my way to eat this item. However, if you are looking for a state fair experience without the exorbitant prices and people, Sonic is a good substitute.

I Tried Starbucks’ Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, And You Should Too

It’s the season of pumpkin spice and with that you can expect a slew of pumpkin themed products ready to hit the shelves. Just in time for the fall season, Starbucks introduced the first, new pumpkin drink since the launch of the Pumpkin Spice Latte in 2003.

Say hello to the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew.

Might I say, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew may be my favorite holiday drink in recent memory. The cold brew packs a punch of caffeine along with a light taste of pumpkin spice. On top of the cold brew rests a mixture of pumpkin sauce and cream, resulting in a decadent cold foam that compliments every sip.

Even better, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew provides all the pumpkin spice flavor without the calories of the traditional Pumpkin Spice Latte. A grande PSL is sure to cost you about 380 calories, and if you are one to count, that amounts to nearly 20% of your total daily allotment. A grande Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew amounts to 250 calories with more caffeine to help you through the day.

While this drink may not appeal to many during colder weather, it does build off the already popular line of cold brew products currently available. The rich cold brew and creamy pumpkin foam provide the taste of fall without all the calories. Overall, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew is a perfect, new addition to Starbucks’ fall lineup and is sure to attract many pumpkin spice lovers.

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

I recently visited my local Target and immediately found a bunch of pumpkin spice-themed products. To get in the fall spirit, I decided to try a few of these products. From cookies to candies, here are my thoughts on some of the items I found:

Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookies

Pepperidge Farm produces extremely popular products including Milanos and Goldfish. I, for one, had never seen these Pumpkin Cheesecake cookies before so I wanted to give them a try. For starters, the white chocolate chips in these cookies are delicious and I found myself wanting more. The cookie itself is very reminiscent of a molasses or gingerbread cookie. Overall, this cookie provided the quintessential fall flavors that I was craving.

Werther’s Pumpkin Spice Caramels

I had high hopes for these caramels because I love the original Werther’s soft caramels, but these did not live up to my expectations. The pumpkin spice flavor is extremely faint and I nearly forgot they were different from the original caramels. I love pumpkin spice as much as the next girl, but these did not provide that quintessential fall flavor that I was looking for.

White Pumpkin Pie M&M’s

Look, I am a purist when it comes to M&M’s and rarely stray from the original candies. However, in recent years there have been some delicious, new flavors including the caramel M&M’s. While the White Pumpkin Pie M&M’s may not be my first choice, I definitely enjoyed them. Each M&M is packed with a blend of white chocolate and pumpkin flavors. Like any other type of M&M, these can be incredibly addicting so proceed with caution.
