Coca-Cola Tic Tacs are a Bust

Let me be the first to say, I had really high hopes for these Tic Tacs. When the limited edition Coca-Cola Tic Tacs were announced, I could not wait to get my hands on some. I’m one of those people that actually enjoy those cola-flavored gummy candies, jelly beans, and Bottlecaps. For whatever reason, they provide me with some sort of nostalgia. Nevertheless, I hoped the Coca-Cola Tic Tacs would offer that same great taste.

Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Before I get into the overall taste, I want to focus on the packaging and product. The Coca-Cola Tic Tacs are actually adorable. Tic Tac did a fantastic job of capturing the Coca-Cola brand on a tiny breath mint. Each white Tic Tac features the Coca-Cola brand stamped in red. I purchased the large container of Tic Tacs which contains 200 breath mints so I had plenty to share with family and friends.

The Coca-Cola Tic Tacs passed the appearance test, but can they pass the taste test? In my unpopular opinion, no. I am deeply saddened to report that I did not enjoy the taste of the Coca-Cola Tic Tacs. When the breath mints hit my tongue, I immediately experience a sour taste. Coca-Cola is quite acidic but the Tic Tacs took it to a new level. These mints are reminiscent of drinking a flat Coca-Cola but I do not believe they capture that signature taste like other candies have.

In addition to the sour taste I experienced, these “breath mints” also have a horrible aftertaste. Honestly, I did not expect Coca-Cola to freshen my breath in the first place. I eat Orange Tic Tacs like they are candy and those aren’t the most effective mints either. Let’s be honest; the only Tic Tacs that can truly be considered mints are the original freshmints and wintergreen. All other Tic Tacs are basically candy.

I guess the joke is on me because now I have a huge container of Tic Tacs that I cannot bring myself to eat. I’ve tried countless times to pawn them off on my significant other to no avail. Although I enjoy the packaging and appearance of the Coca-Cola Tic Tacs, they lost me on taste. Have you tried these? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section!

5 Things You Need for a Spooktacular Night In

It’s that time of the year where the weather cools down, the blankets come out, and pumpkin spice takes over the world. To me, fall means enjoying a good night indoors with my family, friends, or significant other. Here are five things to help you spend a Halloween-inspired night in:

1. Gather Your Favorite Candies

Regardless of age, I think everyone enjoys Halloween for one reason; the candy! Nowadays, there are so many different candy brands that it can be difficult to choose just one. Pick up a few bags of your favorite candies to indulge in throughout the night or invite some friends and do a candy exchange.

2. Prepare a Scary Good Meal

Cool fall weather calls for a warm, homemade meal. While you may not have all day to cook a pot roast, there are a bunch of quick, delicious meals to make for the occasion. For instance, pick up a couple pizza crusts and toppings to make personal pizzas for everyone to enjoy. If pizza isn’t your thing, check out these other scary good recipes.

3. Watch Spooky Movies

Whether you enjoy horror, animation, or thrillers; there are plenty of movies to help you get in the Halloween spirit. Netflix offers a variety of movies to choose from. Indulge in a spooky Netflix Original like Bird Box or have a Scream marathon; the choice is yours. If you don’t have any streaming services, check out Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween schedule to find the featured movie of the night.

4. Make a Cup of Hot Chocolate

Throughout the fall and winter I drink an excess of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. On a night in, I like to snuggle on the couch with a big mug of homemade hot cocoa and whipped cream. Want to know the best recipe for hot chocolate? You can find it on any can of Hershey’s Cocoa Powder. Give it a try and thank me later.

5. Decorate Pumpkins

Pumpkin decorating can be a fun activity for all ages. Grab some pumpkins, a carving set, and any other craft supplies to make the best jack-o-lantern on the block. Make it a group activity and challenge your friends to see who can carve the best pumpkin. Whichever way you slice it, pumpkin decorating is great way to get in the spooky spirit.

This list is not exhaustive and there are so many other fall-inspired activities to do throughout the season. Start fall off right by spending a fun night indoors making memories with the people you care about most.

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

I recently visited my local Target and immediately found a bunch of pumpkin spice-themed products. To get in the fall spirit, I decided to try a few of these products. From cookies to candies, here are my thoughts on some of the items I found:

Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookies

Pepperidge Farm produces extremely popular products including Milanos and Goldfish. I, for one, had never seen these Pumpkin Cheesecake cookies before so I wanted to give them a try. For starters, the white chocolate chips in these cookies are delicious and I found myself wanting more. The cookie itself is very reminiscent of a molasses or gingerbread cookie. Overall, this cookie provided the quintessential fall flavors that I was craving.

Werther’s Pumpkin Spice Caramels

I had high hopes for these caramels because I love the original Werther’s soft caramels, but these did not live up to my expectations. The pumpkin spice flavor is extremely faint and I nearly forgot they were different from the original caramels. I love pumpkin spice as much as the next girl, but these did not provide that quintessential fall flavor that I was looking for.

White Pumpkin Pie M&M’s

Look, I am a purist when it comes to M&M’s and rarely stray from the original candies. However, in recent years there have been some delicious, new flavors including the caramel M&M’s. While the White Pumpkin Pie M&M’s may not be my first choice, I definitely enjoyed them. Each M&M is packed with a blend of white chocolate and pumpkin flavors. Like any other type of M&M, these can be incredibly addicting so proceed with caution.
